The company, founded in 1987, is famous for being one of the first micropropagation laboratories in Italy. It specializes in the production of cut flower plants, outdoor ornamental plants and rootstocks of fruit plants.
Meristema® has become a solid point of reference for large and small nurserymen who appreciate the work done daily with professionalism and dedication.
The beating heart of the activity is represented by the in vitro culture laboratory where millions of plants are cloned (micropropagated) every year, starting from a single gem taken from genetically and sanitary certified material. The genetic improvement work carried out over the years of activity has led to the establishment of new clones of sure commercial interest including the well-known Photinia Super Red®, a selection of Nandina fire power, various selections of Gypsophila (Vittoria®) and Limonium (EVA® and Adamo®).
Thanks to the company’s R&D sector, the classic micropropagation technique has been transformed in order to optimize production processes. A great intellectual and economic commitment is addressed both to the search for new and efficient cultivation substrates (in vitro and in vivo), in particular for olive varieties and for a pistachio rootstock (UBC1), and to adapt according to the parameters of Industry 4.0 the various stages of micropropagation.

To always be in line with customer needs, our range of products includes: alveolus plants (holes available: 360 – 104 – 84 – 60 – 45), potted plants 24 cm, nursery plants raised in the open field.

In vitro plants
The laboratory covers an area of 500 square meters and is composed of three main areas: substrate preparation area, transfer area and growth chamber, service area.
The result of all the precautions followed in the laboratory is to obtain plants free from viruses and bacteria and a constant and homogeneous production all year round, so that the end customer always receives the expected quality standard year after year. All plants have the Community certification C.A.C. and VIRUS FREE, guarantee of phytosanitary and genetic quality. All this is achieved through the best technology available in the sector and with a controlled supply chain.
Meristema®, through years of research in the field, has developed substrates for more than sixty ornamental and fruit-bearing varieties, trying to improve production times and quality day after day, because it is convinced that the basis of success is always customer satisfaction.
Meristema® has always been sensitive to environmental issues and uses glass as the basic unit of the production cycle, despite the fact that most laboratories use “disposable” plastic trays, because they are considered more economically viable. Indeed, Meristema® has always been convinced that respect for the environment must be at the forefront of corporate interests.

BabyPlant®
“The plant for all thumbs … green and not!
BabyPlant® is the line that Meristema® has designed to bring in vitro plants to everyone’s homes, and not only! The plants, grown inside small bottles of various shapes and colors, are suitable for interior furnishings where there is diffused light. The life expectancy of the plant ranges from a few years up to more than ten.
The BabyPlant® is also used as a gift idea and as a favor for special events (Baptisms, Weddings, etc.).
Meristema® has also thought of an exclusive “display” that allows customers to better view the wide range offered by the company.

Nursery
The nursery on the farm extends over an area of 5 hectares where the typical Tuscan Cypress and Photinia Super Red® grown in bush and tree are mainly cultivated.
The need to furnish extensive green spaces has prompted the company to produce cypress plants with habitus intended for setting up large avenues, typical Tuscan patches or with a windbreak function.
The availability of these specimens may vary according to market demands, but they can however also be programmed on commission.
Visiting the company it is therefore possible to find an area dedicated to the cultivation in the field of Photinia Super Red®, a variety particularly appreciated on the market, the result of a selection by the Meristema® company. The company choice is to provide anyway micropropagated material of this variety, as unlike the cutting, the bright red color is more lively and more appreciated by the final customer. We also breed peach rootstocks (GF677 and Mirabolano 29C) which are grown and then proposed for sale with bare roots. All the rootstocks for fruit plants produced follow the following national and European regulations:

– European certification
– VE (Virus Free)
– QVI (Italian Nursery Quality)
